ABOUT SIERRA VISTA
Sierra Vista is the major population center for southeastern Arizona. Located approximately 70 miles southeast of Tucson. Sierra Vista serves as the main commercial, cultural and recreational hub of the area. Easily accessible off of Interstate 10 at an elevation of 4,623 feet, Sierra Vista's abundant sunshine, high altitude and clean fresh air add to the city's livability and comfort. Its picturesque setting among the Huachuca, Dragoon, Mule and Whetstone Mountains emphasize its Spanish name, meaning Mountain View. Within the city is Fort Huachuca, home of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School. Sierra Vista incorporated in 1956.
PRINCIPAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES
Rapidly diversifying, Sierra Vista's economy is closely related to Fort Huachuca, with more than 11,700 military and civilian employees and 11,200 military family members resulting in an annual impact of over $350 million wages, contracts and procurements. Recently, a more aggressive approach by the Sierra Vista public and private sectors is creating a more positive attitude and a more dynamic approach toward the attraction of new industry.
COMMUNITY FACILITIES
The City of Sierra Vista offers a broad range of community facilities: one bowling alley (military), a community center, nine parks (five on Fort Huachuca), four libraries (two military), four swimming pools (three military), three museums (two on Fort Huachuca), two rodeo arenas (one military), two racquetball clubs (one on Fort Huachuca), four indoor theaters (one military), two golf courses (one military), one tennis club with twelve lighted courts, a therapy spa and 40-foot pool, seven Little League diamonds (three military), seven public tennis courts and a skeet/archery range (military).
COMMUNICATIONS
In addition to communication resources from the rest of the state, Sierra Vista has a daily newspaper, The Sierra Vista Herald, and a weekly newspaper, The Mountain View News, local radio stations (12 additional stations are available via cable) and over 30 television channels via cable.
EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
There are six public elementary schools, three junior high schools (one military), and one high school. More than 2,700 students attend the local branch of the community college, Cochise College. Several colleges and universities - including the University of Arizona, the University of Phoenix, Wayland Baptist University, and Western International University, offer upper-division and/or graduate courses.
MEDICAL FACILITIES
There are two hospitals in Sierra Vista (one military). The Sierra Vista Regional Health Center is a well-equipped and centrally located full-service facility. Sierra Vista has nursing homes, home health services, mental health services, long-term care facilities and support organizations. Sierra Vista offers a variety of HMOs and healthcare plans and dental care programs - including family dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics and cosmetic dentistry.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
There are seven financial institutions with branch offices in Sierra Vista. Further, Sierra Vista businesses are eligible for assistance in financing fixed assets through the Finance and Administration Division, Arizona Department of Commerce. GOVERNMENT
A mayor, six city council members and a city manager govern the City of Sierra Vista. A local police department services the city. The fire department is fully staffed and is supplemented with additional reserve personnel.
AIRPORT
The residents of Sierra Vista have access to a municipal airport, which has three paved runways (two lighted), 12,500 feet, 5,300 feet, and 4,700 feet respectively; UNICOM radio, and ground transportation. Regular flights are provided by Great Lakes Airlines.
INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES
There are two parks (50 acres) with Foreign Trade Zone opportunities and all utilities available. Contact the Sierra Vista Economic Development Foundation. Sierra Vista is a Foreign Trade Zone Grantee.
UTILITIES
Electric service is provided to Sierra Vista residents by Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC). There are several private water companies: Bella Vista Water Company, Arizona Water Company, and Pueblo Del Sol Water Company. Sewer and sanitation services are provided by the city. Gas service is by Southwest Gas Company.
LODGING & MEETING FACILITIES
There are 10 motels with 834 units and 13 meeting facilities. The largest seating capacity available is 480.

Plan and host monthly MAC luncheons, on-post, to honor outstanding military, civilians and business sponsors. Particular focus on the Chamber 's Veteran's Day Luncheon in November.
Continue to be lead sponsor of the Annual Ft. Huachuca Awards banquet honoring the Ft. Huachuca Soldier, NCO, Drill Sgt., Instructor, Marine, Airman, Air Force NCO and Civilian of the year held each January.
Coordinate the sponsorship efforts for the NETCOM/9 th US Army Signal Command Soldier and NCO of the year competition held in July.
Continue to sponsor or support post tours and meetings designed to educate the business community on installation missions and accomplishments.
Host a reception and/or tour for the incoming Fort Huachuca senior leadership. Tour topics would include: Chamber mission and functions, city and county government, education, quality of life, health and human services, and economic development.
Continue to be financially self-sufficient as a committee.

MISSION
The purpose of Women in Business is to promote the professional and personal development of its members and to serve the community
through the Greater Sierra Vista Area
Chamber of Commerce.
The stated purpose of Women in Business is to address the unique problems and concerns, and professional needs of businesswomen at
management levels, as well as giving women in the chamber the opportunity to become acquainted with their counterparts in other fields.
The program includes monthly luncheons with guest speakers addressing women in business topics.
Plan of Work
Create a membership base of 75 + active members
Prepare an annual schedule of programs for monthly luncheons to implement the WIB vision & Mission statement.
Provide a speaker at WIB meetings that address membership interest.
Nominate and select a female Businesswoman of the Year who embodies the spirit of the community and actively supports the Chamber and its activities. Award to be given yearly at the Annual Meeting.
